Lord Macaulay’s address to the British Parliament on the 2 nd Feb 1835
“I have travelled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief, such wealth I have seen in this country. Such high moral values, people of such calibre, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage and therefore, I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture, for the Indians all that is foreign and is British is good and greater than their own, they will lose their self-esteem, their native culture and they will become what we want them,..........a truly dominated nation.”
After reading this (in) famous speech, we surely know the character of our British rulers.
What we, the Indians, must ask ourselves, weather we have maintained our status in the world, weather in terms of education,culture,self-esteem do we still have the kind of standing the West was so jealous of.?
OR
All of that has been watered down?
Will we again be called SONE-KI-CHIDIYA or would be happy be ruled (not governed) by ruthless and useless netas?
Ask yourself.
let us CHANGE INDIA for INDIA OF TOMORROW
